HOBART

World's largest cruise ship equipped with HOBART warewashing technology

With 20 decks and at 365 metres long, the world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, has been cruising the Caribbean since the end of January 2024. Up to 7,600 passengers can travel on board and enjoy clean plates, cups and glasses – thanks to HOBART warewashing technology.

Offenburg, 28 May 2024 – World-leading warewashing technology for the world's largest cruise ship: Over 150 HOBART dishwashers are installed on board of the Icon of the Seas. These include 82 undercounter, 42 hood-type, 15 utensil, 9 large conveyor and 7 rack-type dishwashers. Up to 7,600 guests plus 2,350 crew members travel aboard the ship and need to be catered to – an incredible effort! The ship's three main restaurants alone have 2,500 seats that each have two to three reservations per night.

The global market leader for commercial dishwasher and warewash systems is proud to have had the honour of installing the warewashing technology aboard this majestic ship. The most recent inspection by the US Health and Safety authorities in April confirmed that HOBART's warewashing technology is working perfectly – proof of our products’ reliability. The relationship between HOBART and Royal Caribbean dates back many decades and a large proportion of its fleet is equipped with our products. Around 90 percent of all cruise ships around the world are equipped with HOBART warewashing technology.

In addition to the warewashing technology, the ship is also equipped with 60 ELRO cooking applications from Switzerland. The fellow ITW company's cruise ship business is also being managed by the Global Marine team in Offenburg.

A ship unlike any other
Icon of the Seas has broken every record in terms of size and facilities: There are seven pools on board – including the first ever floating infinity pool to be installed on a ship. It also features a water park with six water slides and over 40 restaurants and bars. When booking opened, the Icon gave Royal Caribbean its highest ever daily booking figure in the company's 53-year history. On 27 January 2024, the ship set sail from Miami for its maiden voyage.
